The 'Golden Door'

The very basis for life in the United States is the opportunity that awaits beyond the Golden Door of America.  Jersey City was that portal for many years and still is.  Golden Door Film Festival was founded on the principles of opportunity and equality for each and every qualified filmmaker that has their film accepted to our festival.

Community

The Golden Door Film Festival organization believes in giving back to the community that supports us and that we are a part of and cherish.  Our first program under that concept is our Scholarship fund which is awarded to an outstanding media arts student within the Jersey City School system.

Striving

Each year our festival has grown terrifically and we will continue to shape our organization and events until we have reached the pinnacle of film festival importance. Our aim is to take our place among the most respected film festivals in the world.

For Sponsors

We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization

T he heart icon you see on the menu bar above the be a sponsor tab was chosen because without our sponsors, our lifeblood, we could not exist.

Golden Door International Film Festival has taken its place as one of the top events in the arts and cultural renaissance in Jersey City.  No longer in the shadow of New York’s festivals, Golden Door has secured its place as a venue for local and international cinema, having submissions from domestic and foreign filmmakers, while attracting filmgoers, celebrities and dignitaries. This commitment to our vision of enhancing the art and cultural scene in Jersey City is exemplified by our prestigious corporate partners, among them The Provident Bank, Aramark, Silverman, PSE&G, The Norman and Betina Roberts Foundation, PATH, and The Hudson Reporter.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the historic Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theater, an iconic theater built in 1929 during the glory days of entertainment, Golden Door brings together award-winning entertainers, cutting edge films and a sophisticated audience, providing the ideal promotional environment for our sponsors. The 2011 Festival showcased 42 films and exceeded attendance projections for an inaugural year with over 2,500 admissions.

GDIFF promises to become one of the most highly anticipated events in Hudson County.  The Festival’s centerpiece, the Awards Gala, welcomed a glittering crowd of 500 for a star studded awards ceremony.  Recipients included Paul Sorvino, Leon Gast, and Federico Castelluccio.

Coverage of the Festival appeared in such outlets as the WPIX Channel 11 TV News, Hudson Reporter, News 12 New Jersey, Jersey Journal, Riverview Observer, and the Jersey City Independent.

Promotional value and access to the Jersey City arts scene distinguish our sponsorship benefits, which are designed to maximize your investment. The Festival takes great pride in customizing every proposal to meet the specific objectives of our sponsors.
